365 Day Song Challenge

Day 64 - Your favorite song featured in a musical

Non, Je ne Regrette Rien - Édith Piaf

I love this song!

The title is French for “No, I Regret Nothing.”
Edith Piaf decided to retire in 1960. A few months later, she was persuaded to make a comeback by Charles Dumont and Michel Vaucaire, two young French songwriters, who had written the song “Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien.” At first she refused to see them or take their song seriously. Dumont recalls in The Daily Express, June 30, 2007, “When I started playing the piano, Piaf’s attitude changed immediately. She made me play it over and over again, maybe 5 or 6 times. She said that it was magnificent, wonderful. That it was made for her.” (Songfacts.com)

Lyrics:

Non ! Rien de rien

Non ! Je ne regrette rien

Ni le bien qu’on m’a fait

Ni le mal tout ça m’est bien égal !

Non ! Rien de rien

Non ! Je ne regrette rien

C’est payé, balayé, oublié

Je me fous du passé !

Avec mes souvenirs

J’ai allumé le feu

Mes chagrins, mes plaisirs

Je n’ai plus besoin d’eux !

Balayées les amours

Et tous leurs trémolos

Balayés pour toujours

Je repars à zéro

Non ! Rien de rien

Non ! Je ne regrette rien

Ni le bien, qu’on m’a fait

Ni le mal, tout ça m’est bien égal !

Non ! Rien de rien

Non ! Je ne regrette rien

Car ma vie, car mes joies

Aujourd’hui, ça commence avec toi !

30 Day Movie Challenge

Day 24 - Movie that inspires you

I just love the scene where she sings La Maseillaise (France’s national anthem) as a kid, it’s so inspiring… (youtube link to the scene)

La Môme (2007) “La vie en Rose”, in English; “Piaf: um hino ao amor”, in Portuguese, tells the story of the singer Édith Piaf. It is wonderfull, so beautiful, I like it very much.

IMDb: 7.6
