Live Kisses (Trailer)

Paul McCartney’s ’Live Kisses’ is now available to buy on DVD, Blu-ray and Digital Download.

Relive The Magic Of One Of Paul’s Most Intimate Concerts Ever As He Performs Standards From His Critically Acclaimed Album ‘Kisses On The Bottom’

Package includes spectacular concert footage with a cast of top-flight musicians, exclusive promo videos directed by Paul himself, behind the scenes interviews and a 40 page hardback book featuring an extensive collection of photographs from the event and rehearsals.

A stunning 13-song film, directed by Jonas Åkerlund, that captures the magic of an extraordinary evening in February of this year. In the intimate surroundings of Capitol Studios in Los Angeles, where Paul recorded much of his ‘Kisses On The Bottom’ album, he was reunited with the all-star musicians who joined him on the record to bring the songs to life for a once in a lifetime performance.

This was a concert unlike any Paul had given before. Without his famous Höfner bass in hand or in fact any musical instruments, Paul took his place behind the same microphone that has captured some of the most iconic voices in history to focus on his vocal delivery as he led the assembled A-list group of musicians through a collection of the standards he grew up listening to in his childhood, as well as his own original composition ‘My Valentine’.

Streamed live to the world online, ‘Live Kisses’ marked the launch of Paul’s ‘Kisses On The Bottom’ album. The film tells the story of how, with the help of Grammy Award-winning producer Tommy LiPuma, Diana Krall and her band, Paul created a critically acclaimed album, which featured guest appearances from Eric Clapton and Stevie Wonder. The record represents a deeply personal journey through classic American compositions that a young Paul first heard his father perform on piano at home. Upon its release ‘Kisses…’ topped the US Billboard Jazz album chart at number 1, as well as charting top 5 all around the world.

On the night the all-star line up were reunited to include musical director Diana Krall (piano), John Clayton (bass), Karriem Riggins (drums), John Pizzarelli (guitar), Anthony Wilson (guitar), Mike Mainieri (vibraphone) and conductor Alan Broadbent. Tommy LiPuma and Al Schmitt resumed their roles in the studio and special guest musicians on the evening included Abe Laboriel Jr (from Paul’s touring band) on backing vocals and Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh. Walsh performed the ‘My Valentine’ guitar solo originally recorded by Eric Clapton on the studio album.

The concert was performed just hours after Paul brought Vine Street in LA to a standstill as he was presented with his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in front of the Capitol Records Building. The night of the concert (February 9th) was also the 48th anniversary of The Beatles’ U.S. TV debut on The Ed Sullivan Show.

Bonus ‘Live Kisses’ material includes six versions of the ‘My Valentine’ music video, directed by Paul and starring Johnny Depp and Natalie Portman as well as a ‘Making My Valentine’ film. There are also two short films with behind the scenes footage filmed at the Mary McCartney album photoshoot for ‘Kisses On The Bottom’. The final extra is an interview with Paul and producer Tommy LiPuma talking about the story of the album, its conception and creation.

‘Live Kisses’ is an intimate and charming concert film which offers an insight into the music and songwriters that inspired Paul to go on to become the most successful songwriter and performer in modern history. Beautifully presented, ‘Live Kisses’ comes with a 40-page hardback book containing photographs from the day itself, including the rehearsals.

30 Day Movie Challenge

Day 30 - Last movie you watched

Wall-E (for the X time)… As I was telling when I finished watching Friends (here), I moved on to watching my cartoons again, and so far I was able to cover Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Alladin, Dumbo, Snow White, Pinnochio, Lilo & Stitch, Nemo, Cars, Ratatouille, The Incredibles and the last one (yesterday) was Wall-E… :)

Wall-E  is is a Disney-Pixar animated feature from 2008. In the distant future, a small waste collecting robot inadvertently embarks on a space journey that will ultimately decide the fate of mankind.

Day 27 - Movie with your favorite villain

Not exactly a villain, but it could be said he was in this film… I just love the scene: “Open your books to page 394” *______*

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004): It’s Harry’s third year at Hogwarts; not only does he have a new “Defense Against the Dark Arts” teacher, but there is also trouble brewing. Convicted murderer Sirius Black has escaped the Wizards’ Prison and is coming after Harry.

Day 26 - Movie you’re most embarrassed to say you like

Not really embarrassed, but I do like old musicals, these that people usually thinks are dull and some even don’t know like Grease, Sound of Music, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, etc.

Grease is a 1978 musical that tells the story of good girl Sandy and greaser Danny who fell in love over the summer. But when they unexpectedly discover they’re now in the same high school, will they be able to rekindle their romance?.

30 Day Movie Challenge

Day 18 - Film that is your guilty pleasure

I just LOVE the game (the series as a whole) and the movie is a pretty good adaptation, of course it turned out to be a trashy film, but it’s great! =D

Silent Hill is a 2006 movie based on the Silent Hill series of survival horror video games created by Konami. The film, particularly its emotional, religious and aesthetic content as well as its creature design, includes elements from Silent Hill, Silent Hill 2 and 3. The film also includes some music, such as “Wounded Warsong”, from Silent Hill 4: The Room. A game in the series released after the film, Silent Hill Homecoming, incorporates some elements of the film.

The film follows a mother, Rose, who takes her troubled adopted daughter, Sharon, to Silent Hill, the town the girl cries out for while sleepwalking. After being unconscious in a car crash outside the town, Rose awakens and is shocked to find Sharon missing and the town engulfed in an alternate reality of fog and falling ash. While searching for Sharon, she faces reality shifts and monsters while uncovering her daughter’s connection to the town’s past.

Day 17 - Least favorite book adaptation

The book is good, but the movie is soooo childish and silly…

Eragon was shot in 2001. In his homeland of Alagaesia, a farm boy happens upon a dragon’s egg, a discovery that leads him on a predestined journey where he realized he’s the one person who can defend his home against an evil king.

Yesterday I watched the movie The Boy in the Stripped Pajamas, I still hadn’t seen the movie eventhough I had already read the book by John Boyne. It is a very good movie, I was impressed. I thought the adaptation was really well done, it is so true to the book, it is amazing. It’s really difficult to see good adaptations these days, of course that in the book the point of view is only Bruno’s, which is very difficult to put in a movie, how can you build a story that everyone is seeing through the looks of a child? It is obvious that it wouldn’t be possible to be that equal to the book regarding this part, but inspite of that, the story was perfectly constructed, so congratulations to everyone responsible!!

Plot: Set during World War II, a story seen through the innocent eyes of Bruno, the eight-year-old son of the commandant at a concentration camp, whose forbidden friendship with a Jewish boy on the other side of the camp fence has startling and unexpected consequences.
